We are very pleased to announce that Wini Labrecque will be our 2014 Event Speaker!

Wini Labrecque

Wini Labrecque has made fiber her profession, studying, training and evaluating its properties from both a scientific and hands on approach since 1988. As a textile artist, she has developed a solid background and interest in a wide variety of techniques for utilization of fiber from raw state to finished product. She was introduced to alpacas in 2000 at a local alpaca show and became hooked. Her focus on alpaca fiber led her to complete the AOBA Fleece Judging apprentice program and become a Certified Fleece Judge in 2009. Wini has volunteered at numerous alpaca fleece shows in many positions from Superintendent to scribe and is currently PAOBA’s Fiber Chairperson. She is a Fiber Arts judge as well as a judge for spin offs, hand spun and mill spun skein competitions, and completed training as a camelid fiber grader/sorter through Olds College. She lectures on all aspects of alpaca fiber as well as gives classes in beginning spinning, felting, dying and/or weaving to individuals or small groups. Wini, along with her husband John own Star Weaver Farm and share their land with their 5 alpaca geldings in Cabot, PA.
